AIKEN, S.C. – Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) is proud to announce that Lisa Tanner, Director of Supplier Mission Readiness and Engagement, has been awarded the fiscal year (FY) 2025 Supply Chain Management Center (SCMC) Small Business Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award for her exceptional contributions in support of the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

The recognition marks the second time Tanner has received this honor, underscoring her sustained leadership and impact across NNSA Labs, Plants, Sites, and DOE‑Environmental Management (EM) programs.
“It is her blend of strategic vision and a people‑first leadership style that continues to elevate SRNS’ supply chain performance and strengthen its contributions to national security,” said Staci Peters, SRNS Senior Vice President, Business Services.
FY25 marked a year of progress under Tanner’s leadership as SRNS prepares for a historic acceleration of missions, including expanded NNSA responsibilities, construction of the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility, new nuclear material processing work and long‑term environmental stewardship. Ensuring a resilient, capable and diverse supplier base is essential to achieving this mission growth.
Tanner modernized how SRNS engages and develops suppliers, introducing new digital tools, education pathways, and technical assistance resources to strengthen supplier readiness and expand opportunities for small businesses across the DOE complex.
One of Tanner’s most notable accomplishments was leading the development and rollout of the new SRNS Supplier Portal, a platform that streamlines supplier onboarding, reduces barriers to entry and improves buyer efficiency and later became a DOE/NNSA readiness model.
She also advanced the Supplier Management Program by integrating resources from the Supplier Technical Assessment and Validation Program, Manufacturing Extension Program, and APEX Accelerator networks, connecting businesses with critical training, technical assistance and development tools needed to enter or scale within supply chain. To expand supplier visibility and collaboration, Tanner and her team enhanced the SRNS Mentor‑Protégé Program by delivering four Centers of Excellence sessions, coordinating multi‑site capability briefings and increasing opportunities for protégés at SRNS‑hosted supplier fairs.
“Through innovation, collaboration, and disciplined execution, Lisa has fundamentally expanded small business participation within SRNS, strengthening the supply chain, advancing missions, and setting a standard of excellence across the complex,” said Jay Johnson, Deputy Senior Vice President, Business Services and Chief Contracting Officer. “Lisa has proven herself as a leader driving direction in key areas like tariff response, supply chain risk and strategies to expand the industrial base.”
Her team also organized two major outreach events, with one connecting more than 400 attendees with 40 SRNS departments, creating real‑time engagement between acquisition leaders and prospective partners. Her team also represented SRNS at 18 external outreach events, including regional supplier summits, national forums and DOE complex conferences.
Under Tanner’s leadership, SRNS delivered historic results in FY25:
- $572 million in total procurement commitments
- $362 million (63.3%) awarded to small businesses, well above DOE’s 50% requirement
- Monthly on-time supplier delivery rates above 90%, ending FY25 at 93.1%
Although the SCMC MVP award recognizes her individual achievements, Tanner emphasizes that the success of SRNS’ Small Business Program is the result of a collaborative, team‑driven effort.
“These outcomes reflect the disciplined execution and intentional efforts across our entire team,” said Tanner. “As Steve Jobs famously said, ‘Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people.’ That sentiment perfectly captures the spirit of our program. It takes every person contributing their unique talents, working together towards a common goal, to build the resilient and capable supply chain that is so vital to our national security missions.”
