Programs at SRNS

Defense
SRNS is essential to deterrence of foreign threats by upholding the nation’s nuclear defense and security. The Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility and Savannah River Tritium Enterprise help to complete the NNSA’s core missions, ensuring the readiness and sustainability of the nation’s nuclear defense systems for decades to come.

Nuclear Materials Management
SRNS helps make the world safer by receiving, storing, processing and dispositioning nuclear materials in one-of-a-kind facilities to support the nation’s nuclear non-proliferation, global threat reduction and environmental stewardship initiatives.

Waste
SRNS’ Solid Waste Management is responsible for the disposition of Savannah River Site’s solid wastes, which include sanitary, construction and demolition (C&D), hazardous, low-level radioactive and transuranic wastes.

Safety and Security
At SRNS, safety and security are more than a priority—they are the foundation of everything we do. Guided by a legacy of excellence, SRNS upholds the highest safety and security standards to ensure the successful execution of mission-critical objectives, the safeguarding of national security assets, and a sustainable future for generations to come.

Environmental Stewardship
SRNS is committed to preserving the environment through sustainable practices and adherence to strict regulatory standards. By prioritizing safety, accountability, and responsible resource management, SRNS strives to ensure the well-being of our workers, the public, and the ecosystems surrounding the site.
